Aseel Strain · Punjab, Pakistan
Mianwali
Tall, hard-feathered and famously game — the classic Pakistani Aseel.
The Mianwali takes its name from the district in the Punjab where it has been bred for generations. It is the tall, long-legged type of Aseel: upright carriage, long neck, broad shoulders and a hard, close feather that lies tight to a muscular body.
In my yard the Mianwali are selected for height without weakness — good bone, clean hocks, a wide skull and the bold pearl or daw eye. They mature slowly, as the old strains do, and a cock is not properly judged until his second year.
They are calm and confident with people, but never soft. Bred honestly, the Mianwali is one of the most impressive fowl a breeder can keep.
